Get Involved at LPES!
Hello LPES Families,
Your involvement in our learning community makes a big difference, because working together as partners in your child's education is our goal. We encourage in-person connections at dropoff and pickup times; regular communication with your child's teacher via planners, SeeSaw, or email; calling Audrey in the office about attendance or afterschool arrangements; or emailing me with questions or concerns.
There are other opportunities for you to be meaningfully involved that will enhance your connection to our school. Volunteer iwth your child's class, join a PAC meeting and attend our Open House. Please consider these opportunities and reach out to me with any questions you may have.
Volunteering With Your Child's Class
Each class has unique opportunities to join reading activities, outdoor learning, or field trips. We require the following before any adult works with kids:
- Completed Criminal Record Check (every five years): Please connect with Audrey in the office to get the form, take it to the RCMP detachment, and bring the completed form into the office. There is no cost for the CRC, but it does require some time to complete. Don't wait to complete this until there is a field trip you hope to join!
- Child Abuse Reporting Protocol Training (every school year): This training is good for any school in Kimberley and is now available online. Watch the video and complete the form here: https://www.sd6.bc.ca/parents/child-abuse-reporting-protocol-and-volunteer-code-of-conduct-training
Parent Advisory Council
This group of parents/care givers supports the initiatives in the school and provides a voice from a family perspective. It is less formal than the title suggests! you may join meetings in person or virtually whenever it is convenient for you. Come for the snacks and stay for the conversation!
Volunteers Needed: You can be involved in the school by joining meetings, volunteering for PAC fundraisers such as hot lunch or recycled shopping, or helping with grant applications. Put more directly – PAC activities are not possible without volunteers!
Our first meeting this year is Wednesday September 18 at 6:00pm in the library. Click here to join the meeting virtually We will be discussing school plans for this year, PAC spending and fundraising activities. The agenda, treasurers report and minutes from the last meeting are available here: https://lpes.sd6.bc.ca/download/468251
Open House
Mark your calendars for our upcoming Open House Wednesday October 2 at 5:00pm. Join us for soup made by LPES students with produce grown in our garden. Visit your child's classroom and meet our staff. This is an informal welcome to our school, so don't miss out!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Your timely attention to school processes is much appreciated. Currently we are working to complete our start-up forms and school fees payments.
Start-up Forms
Reminder to visit Clevr to fill in your forms as they are due this FRIDAY. Accounts have been created for families already registered in the School District. If you need help, the School District has created a helpful manual for your use. If you run into login problems, contact Audrey in the office at 250-427-2255.
School Fees Payment
Our school purchases the school supplies for the year in bulk so that all students in each class have what they need. Parents do not need to purchase supplies separately. Please pay your child’s school supply fees ($50 per child) by Sept. 30th. If you require financial assistance for supply costs, please contact the office.
We now have SchoolCashOnLine available to all parents to make payments on line. Registering for a SchoolCash Online account is free and easy. Any future fees can be paid through this account.
