The Learning Year Begins...

Dear Lindsay Park Families,

This is our first blog of the year. We are so happy to be diving into the learning in literacy, numeracy and core competencies. This coming month classrooms are using different literacy and numeracy instructional strategies and learning sequences to engage their learners in reading, writing, and expressive language. Also, as a school, we'll be embarking on new math resources to, again, engage learners in finding how math is everywhere and we use it daily.

So far this year, our learning has been rich! As a whole school, yet in each cohort, classes spent time on Orange Shirt Day to learn about Phyllis' Story and how we can all work together to honor everyone and accept everyone.

We are very fortunate so far this year to be partnering with Mainstreams to explore Creek Science. Various classes K-3 are learning what lives in our creeks, why it's important and how we as a community and an individual can help.

Lastly, Mrs. Rice, our teacher-librarian, is working with our classes on what fills us with happiness. Inspired by Monique Gray Smith's, My Heart Fills with Happiness, this story was written through an indigenous lens focussing on relationship, gratitude and love.
